Orthodontics is the dental medicine area which detects, prevents and corrects the set of dental position anomalies that prevent a correct occlusion, alignment and aesthetics of dental arches.
Unlike in the past, dental treatments in this area are increasingly popular among young people. The search for aesthetics solutions using this area for adults and young adults has grown strongly these past years.
At Dental Fusion Clinics, Orthodontics is developed using the following concept:
“We don’t place dental appliances, we create smiles.”
There are treatments that indicate fixed or removable braces. You should consult a specialist doctor in this area for better advice. Remember, each case is different and cannot be generalized.
For many people, concern about aesthetics during orthodontic treatment is a fundamental element to take into account whenever, whether for professional reasons or for simple convenience and discretion, the patient does not feel comfortable using a brace.
Clear aligners, known as invisible aligners, are made of transparent, semi-flexible plastic material. Because they offer excellent results, they have become the main solution for invisible orthodontics.
The patient must cease using the previous (front) teeth to cut food (carrot, apple, sandwiches). During the treatment, the patient’s diet must be carefully chosen, avoiding hard food (toast, raw carrots, among others) and sticky food (chewing gums, gums, caramels, popcorn, candies…), because these can break or damage the appliances components.
What to do in case an appliance component detaches (is damaged)?
Despite these components’ gluing being done with high resistance resin, sometime your teeth might be badly positioned or during food mastication, some elements of your appliances might have dislocated.
If this happens, it is not of concern, keep calm, call the Clinic and follow the instructions given. Dislocated components must be repositioned within three weeks.
What to do if a tip of the orthodontic appliance is hurting you?
As dental movements takes place, it is normal for this to happen. Don't be discouraged! Use the recommended protection wax or contact the Clinic to calmly solve the problem.
Cleaning your teeth with a fixed appliance must be done immediately after each meal. You must avoid soft drinks, sweet or even acid drinks, (such as natural orange juice), sweets and sugar, as they can increase the risk of dental caries.
Place your toothbrush in a 45º angle in relation to the gums, press slightly during brushing with short coming and going movements, and clean each group of two or three teeth for approximately 10 seconds. Repeat the same movement in the teeth inner and outer surface and don’t forget the mastication surfaces.
End by cleaning around the appliance, by brushing the upper part first and then the lower one. Brush carefully in order not to break nor damage any of the brackets or arches.
The brush must also be used to massage your gums and wash your mouth.
Note: Remember that a brush must be replaced every two to three months.
The spiral brush is an interdental brush and an efficient tool in removing bacterial plaque. (Available in several sizes)
How to use it: The spiral brush must be wet with water and tooth paste before being place between the teeth. Then, start brushing by forming an angle that allows keeping the spiral brush in contact with the gum executing come and go movements. During the brushing operation, the spiral brush must be wet with water to remove the bacterial plaque residues that accumulate in its bristles.
After due hygienization, you must rinse your mouth with a fluorine mouthwash every day in the morning and before going to bed.
